Churchlands is a very small suburb with a population of just 2,750 people. The neighbourhood hugs the western side of Herdsman Park and Lake, where residents have easy access to picnic and recreational areas. It is 8 kilometers north west of the Perth CBD, and just a 5-10 minute drive to the coast access at City Beach. The name “Churchlands” comes from the area’s purchase by the Roman Catholic Church from the Trigg family.

The suburb has options for primary and secondary schools, including Hale School, the Churchlands Primary school, Churchlands Senior High School and the main campus of Newman College, a K-12 Catholic school.
Although there isn’t any shopping within the small suburb itself, Churchlands is within a kilometer of the Floreat Forum, which is a comprehensive shopping center complete with dining and a pub.
