Floreat is a quiet suburb just 8 km northwest of the Perth CBD. It sits next to City Beach, and is a 5-10 minute drive to the coast.
Floreat comes from the latin word for “flourish” or “grow”. An accurate name, as the suburb is surrounded by parks and green space, including Perry Lakes Reserve, Bold Park and Floreat Park.
With a population of just over 7,000, this neighbourhood boasts some absolutely magnificent homes. It is a considerably affluent neighbourhood. Median home prices this year ranged between $1,300,000 at its peak earlier this year and $1,138,500 at its lowest point this October. As of November, the median is back up to $1,150,000. Over the past year, median home prices dropped 12.6%.
In terms of education, there are a number of options. Primary schools include Floreat Park Primary and Newman College Floreat campus, a K-3 primary Catholic school. Nearby high schools are Churchlands Senior High School and Shenton College. Floreat is home to the Australian Institute of Management, a private management skills course provider.
Those who love shopping will be happy to know that the Floreat Forum shopping center is central to the neighborhood, boasting a variety of boutique and chain stores. It also has fine dining and bars. The neighbourhood also houses the headquarters of Rugby WA, Floreat Oval, and the Bold Park Aquatic Centre, with other facilities for tennis, lawn bowls and basketball.
